fofix - issue #1214

Linux Segmentation Fault

Posted on Aug 18, 2010 by Helpful Cat

Describe the problem. What did you expect? What do you see? What happens is, sometimes, usually with patterns in certian songs, the game will crash at random. This usually happens either during a song or right when starting a song. Usually, it keeps crashing on a certain song, and the only way to stop it (temporarily) is to reboot. This has never happened in windows.

tyler@tobe ~ % fofix-git ** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GstObject) SDL_JoystickNumHats value:1: ALSA lib pcm.c:7245:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occured ** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GstObject) ALSA lib pcm.c:7245:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occured SDL_JoystickNumHats value:1: SDL_JoystickGetAxis value:0: SDL_JoystickGetAxis value:16049: Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault /usr/bin/fofix-git: line 4: 3325 Aborted taskset -c 0 python ./FoFiX.py tyler@tobe ~ %

The ALSA underruns mean nothing. It does that all the time.

List the steps to recreate the problem. 1.Run FoFiX on a Linux operating system 2.Keep rocking out until it crashes :P

What version are you using? Include the FoFiX version, the Python version, your operating system, and whether it is SVN (alpha), beta, RC, or final release. FoFiX-Git. This has been a problem for a long time.

Did you read the wiki on how to report bugs, conveniently called ReportingBugs? If this is a bug report, please include the log file! Yep.

Umm... Idk where to find the log file so I just ran fofix-git in the terminal. :P

Please provide any additional information below.

Have you experienced this lately? This taskset -c 0 looks interesting.. try removing it from /usr/bin/fofix-git

Ok, I just tried doing that, then played a few songs that usually cause it to crash.

Results: I tried doing it in both FoFiX 3.121 and FoFiX 4.0 Git. I got FoFiX 3.121 to crash, but not yet 4.0 Git. I'll post again if it does crash, but now it's crashing a lot less than it used to. And it's not lagging as much. :)
