Linux Microphone Support

Posted on Aug 1, 2010 by Helpful Cat

When I try to use the microphone in Arch Linux, umm... What's my sound card model... lol :P I use the Nvidia driver, and when I try to use the microphone in FoFiX, it says [Microphones not supported]. The microphone's plugged in and the mixer levels are fine and stuff. In windows, when I try it, it works perfectly.

This can be recreated by simply setting up a microphone while running a Linux operating system. It may be a problem on my side, if so, I'll find my sound card model and stuff.

I'm using the latest FoFiX and Python versions (FoFiX-Git) on Arch Linux 64 bit.

I have been having problems with other programs and microphone support, but after changing my mixer levels, it started to work. Skype distorts my voice and makes it hard to understand what I'm saying.
