btstack - issue #73

Mouse: Right click results in multiple home button clicks.

Posted on Aug 31, 2010 by Happy Horse

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Set up BTstack mouse to allow right click to simulate push of home button on iPad. 2. Using Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth Mouse and Apple Magic Mouse 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

With the Magic Mouse when I right click I typically get (and would expect) an exit from the current application on the iPad. Sometimes I get what seems like multiple right clicks which take me to the first screen and then the search screen. The Microsoft Mouse is much worse in this respect. Sometimes I get the exit from the application but more often I'm getting up to six clicks of the home button. During this time the mouse curser locks while the screens keep moving back and forth between the first home screen and the search screen.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Using this on an iPad with Mac OS. Using most current version of BTStack Mouse as of 31-Aug-2010.

Please provide any additional information below.

I have reset the application several times with no improvement. The problem is not consistent with the Microsoft mouse. Sometimes it works fine while other times it is very problematic. I have also changed the middle button to simulate a press of the home button and get the same issue.

Absolutely same behaviour here with Razer ProClick Mobile on iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB @iOS 4.0 and latest btstack (previous versions make no difference to this problem).

Same issue. 3GS on iOS 4.0.1, latest BTStack / mouse. Physical mouse is Notebook Mouse 5000. Also noticed when middle button set to lock/unlock that this is also cycling with extra clicks. Swapping buttons does not fix issue.

Same here. iPad 4.2.1. The only app that seems to quit properly on right click is mail. Other apps react differently. Sometimes the click opens BG bar a few times and quits, sometimes not. Have nothing to do with moving the cursor on my device as far as I can tell.

same issue with iPad1 iOs 4.3.3 using an Inland bluetooth mouse. Not moving the mouse doesn't help and is hardly a solution.
