btstack - issue #65

BTstack Mouse and BTstack Keyboard wont work together on iPod Touch 3rd gen v4.0.1

Posted on Aug 16, 2010 by Quick Dog
  1. pairing my Razer ProClick Mobile works fine, however I have some problems here and there, resulting in firing the right mouse button event in a loop - this can only be interrupted by powering off the mouse and doing the pairing again (but this is not the problem I am describing here ;) )
  2. besides the pairing of the Apple Wireless Keyboard is unsuccessfull most of the time (won't ask to enter the 4-digit pin but says the device is not discoverable anymore, while it clearly is!) the icon now won't change into the keyboard symbol but remains being the generic bluetooth icon
  3. thus pressing the name of the keyboard does not start the pairing process

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

hi. can you attach /tmp/hci_dump.pklg when you get the Bluetooth icon instead of a keyboard one for the Apple Wireless. You can use scp on the command line or iFile from Cydia.

Hello there, sorry for being a little late. I have attached the mentioned file. I do not know what's inside but I assume that there are no personal informations or something similar ;)

hi. and sorry for being extra late. in the log, which only captured your mouse movements :), I can see that the keyboard tries to connect to your iPod. I am not sure, why this is a problem but I'd suggest you try this.

  1. turn on your Apple Wireless Keyboard and make it discoverable, as explained on http://www.ringwald.ch/keyboard/FAQ.html
  2. when the keyboard starts blinking, try to connect it using BTstack Keyboard
  3. now, connect to the mouse using BTstack Mouse. ... if it fails, please post hci_dump.pklg again

Hi Matthias.

First: I do not have the full version of the BTstack Keyboard (yet), because I first want to know it will run properly.

I have followed your steps you've posted, after successfully pairing the Keyboard in the Demo application, exiting it and trying to pair the BT Mouse the "finding devices" screen's caption is "Keyboard Selector" (yes, I've double-checked I am really in the mouse app and not in the kb app accidently). The mouse is being found anyway, but pairing results in the same "non-responsive button" behaviour - this time for the mouse "connect" button, not the keyboard.

I hope the log file is of any use, it is attached. If I am able to help in any way just drop me a message.

@SmashD Thanks for the log. In the log everything is fine. Your keyboard tries to connect to the iPod on its own which is not supported yet. I'll look into supporting that as it would make things easier.

Thanks for your answer, I am now on iPhone 3GS (but not yet jailbreaked due to its shipment with 4.1 already installed). But I guess -when it comes to BT- everything should be the same on that device. As soon as I am able to help again I will do so, have a nice sunny sunday.

I am having the same issues too. This is my setup: 3GS ios 4.0.1 Freedom i-connex keyboard Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000

Both devices work great on thei own. But the mouse refuses to connect after connecting the keyboard. BTstack mouse doesn't show any devices although the mouse is already in discover mode.

Please let me know if I can help debug this.

Thanks!
