btstack - issue #351

BTstack Never Activates on iPhone 3G-4.2.1

Posted on Sep 9, 2013 by Grumpy Ox

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Reboot iPhone 3g 2. Disable iPhone Bluetooth 3. Launch either SNES A.D. plus or WiiMote OpenGL-ES Demo

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Wiimote is never recognized. Stuck on "Activating BTstack" under Demo. If I try to manually select BTstack under settings, the indicator just spins and spins and I can't select anything at that point.

I've tried resetting network settings, deinstalling SNES A.D. Plus and reinstalling it, and deinstalling SNES A.D. and just using WiiMote Demo. I've tried it with iPhone bluetooth off and I've tried it with iPhone bluetooth on. I've checked that permissions to LaunchDaemon folder are set to root. No matter what I do, I can never ever select BTstack under settings. It just doesn't work at all.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Latest release on jailbroken iPhone 3G - ios 4.2.1

Also tried deinstalling BTstack via Cydia and reinstalling it, both as a standalone and with SNES A.D.

Not sure about that but I've heard about problems on iPhone 3G 4.2.1 before (I kept my iPhone 3G on 3.1. which doesn't show this). Please try an older version of BTstack, eg.. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5138628/BTstack-0.4-1652.deb and let me know if that helps. (keep Bluetooth on, don't try to enable BTstack in Settings, automatic is best)

Thanks for getting back with me. After I posted, I did install an older version of BTstack and that allowed me to switch back and forth between iOS and BT in the settings menu. But, it still doesn't work with SNES A.D., or any other emulator I tried.

With that said, emulation is god-awful on my 3g anyway, so I've pretty much given up. Nevertheless, thanks for your assistance!

Thanks for letting me know. I'm still puzzled why iPhone 3G/4.x fails now (... now = iOS 6 fixes). I'll try to look into that once an iOS 7 JB is out...
