btstack - issue #310

BTSTACK GPS does not recognize Bluetooth device name change

Posted on Feb 6, 2013 by Happy Horse

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Connect a device BTSTACK GPS. Disconnect Device 2. Change Bluetooth device name ie from "New Phone" to "Old Phone" 3. Attempt to connect device again.

What is the expected output? I expect to be able to connect using the new device name.

When I press "Find devices .." I expect to see the new name.

What do you see instead?

"Find devices .." finds no 'new' device.

I have to select the previous name still listed "New Phone" rather then use its new name "Old Phone".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

IPAD 3 IOS 6.1 BTStack GPS 1.7.2

Please attach a package log, as described here: http://btstack.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/69548-how-to-get- btstack-communication-log

and provide any additional information below.

I suggest you add an option to forget the previously accessed device.

Hi. Thanks for reporting. I didn't check the remote device name again after I got a name before. This was done to speed up the discovery, as getting the name for each device has to be queried individually. Maybe I could always query the name again, or, update existing names after all listed devices have names.
