Hi, I think maby this will be a hard one, but bluetooth DUN combined with some tun/tap drivers would be a great help for connecting to the internet when no wifi is avalable on ipod touches (from another 3G/GPRS phone).

Posted on Feb 19, 2010 by Swift CamelSame. I would like to see this feature. This could be called "reverse tethering", since iPhone/iPod is using another device's Internet connection, rather than vice-versa.

Posted on Apr 16, 2010 by Quick GiraffeAdding Bluetooth PAN support to allow incoming internet connectivity from a Windows Mobile phone to an iPod Touch would be great! Currenlty, the only way to tether a Touch to a WinMo phone for internet access is to use a ad-hoc WIFI solution. This is not prefered as you would have to enable the WiFi radio on both devices and take a hit on battery life. I'd rather keep the WiFI off, use Bluetoon PAN exclusively for my Touch since I already use Bluetooth on my phone.
Pros: 1. WiFI radio off saves battery life 2. Using your phone as an internet gateway and routing traffic to the Touch via Bluetooth connectivty would provide constant internet access to the Touch 3. No need to constantly look for WiFi access. When you know of one, you can use it. 4. Until Apple decides to implement this, a developer that provides this solution could do well since lots of Touch owners would benefit from this.
Cons: 1. Currently not supported by Apple 2. No one has developed this yet!

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 by Quick GiraffeI think someone else is close to this functionality. Check out iBluever. Its not released yet but make some waves if you do a search for it.

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 by Swift OxHaven't seen a DUN implementation of iBluever, but I would be very happy if it would/could be build on top of the open BTstack. This would allow multiple apps to use Bluetooth, e.g., if you use DUN to surf the web via a ordinary phone, you might would like to use BTstack Keyboard to write an email over an external keyboard.

Posted on May 10, 2010 by Swift OxEric released iBluever on Cydia. Unfortunately, it does not build upon BTstack and cannot be used in conjunction with other BTstack-based apps.

Posted on May 12, 2010 by Happy WombatHi all, Any chance to build anything similar to iBluever using BTstack?

Posted on May 13, 2010 by Swift OxI appreciate your wish. I hope for this to happen, too.
The connection over DUN is a bit complex and I have no idea on network programming on iPhone. Are you looking into a solution for your new shiny iPad Wifi?

Posted on Aug 12, 2014 by Grumpy OxHello, unfortunately iBluever support only client mode, and using DUN profile to connect with other phones I would like used my iPhone as modem via BT DUN profile for internet connection. It is neccesery for Car or other external devices using DUN for internet connection...
