xmonad - issue #430

KDE special window management mishaps

Posted on Feb 7, 2011 by Quick Rabbit

In KDE, plasma dropdown windows (such as the k-menu and the systray extender) behave like regular windows, and thus they tile. However, they should float ideally.

Similarly, krunner is managed like a dock and is thus unable to receive keyboald input apparently, rendering it pretty useless.

I have made a small fix in my xmonad.hs config, but I really think that this should be the default behaviour kde4Config.

Hm.. I would really like to tag this #Component-Contrib as suggested in the template, but I don't know how :-/

Also, I should probably mention that I use xmonad-contrib version 0.9.2, because I couldn't locate the darcs repository to check if it contained a fix.

The darcs repo is back up now (read-only); the machine that hosted it was being rebuild following it being hacked late last month.
