What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Run PandoraBoy on my Leopard system 2. Hit any hot key (like, dislike, next, play/pause) and nothing happens
I've configured several of the keys for thinks like Option-P, Option-N, Option-D.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The keys should work
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? v0.7.0 on Leopard (10.5.6)
Please provide any additional information below.

Posted on May 5, 2009 by Quick GiraffeI'll dig into it, but I doubt that you can make hot keys that involve only the Opt key. Opt-n for instance is mapped to compose-with-tilde so that you can type ñ (Opt-N n). Opt-p is the letter π. It would be similar to trying to map Shift-A to a global shortcut. Character composing is done too early to be redirected this way.
I'm pretty sure the Cmd key needs to be part of the key combination.

Posted on May 18, 2009 by Quick GiraffeActually, I think this is a duplicate of Issue 39. Can you see if it works once you restart PB?
Posted on May 25, 2009 by Happy BirdI have noticed that some hot keys work better after restarting but I think the problem I am running into mostly is the other apps having conflicting key binding for the hot keys I've set up to use. Can you suggest what you use yourself for your key binding?

Posted on Sep 30, 2009 by Happy Monkeymac os x 10.5.8, Pandora 0.8.0, i still can't use hotkeys. the right-arrow, left-arrow, space-bar works, but the function key's logos: next, pause, prev. do not work still. keep up the good work either way, i love this app. :)

Posted on Mar 18, 2010 by Swift WombatHas there been any resolution for this issue? My hotkeys worked for months, but just stopped working about a week ago. I've tried using alternate key combinations, but to no avail.
Mac OS X 10.5.8 / PB 0.8.0
Many thanks.

Posted on Mar 26, 2010 by Grumpy CatHotkeys don't work for me, with PandoraBoy open and active, or hidden. I'm only testing the Play/Pause shortcut.
Mac OS X 10.6.2 PB 0.8.0
I have clicktoflash enabled, don't know if that might be interfering.

Posted on Apr 13, 2010 by Happy BirdI downloaded the most recent version (PB 0.8.0) and at first the hotkeys didn't work. However, I simply chose the hotkey settings under the PandoraBoy Preferences tab, and then made sure that they matched the ones in the System Preferences. The key is, when entering the hotkeys with their corresponding action, to use the name listed in the menu bar. For example, the menu bar says "Thumbs Up" vs "Thumbs Down" whereas PandoraBoy uses "Like Song" and "Dislike Song." The hotkeys will only work if they're entered into System Preferences as "Thumbs Up" even though they're listed in PandoraBoy Preferences as "Like Song." However, for some reason the actual function to Like or Dislike Songs from the Menu bar seems to be disabled.
If you follow the logic for the other controls they work so long as you're within PandoraBoy. The program needs to be fixed so that the hotkeys can be used when the program isn't on top.

Posted on Jun 22, 2010 by Quick GiraffeI'm not yet certain why this is causing trouble. One thing to try while I look at reimplementing this logic:
defaults delete com.frozensilicon.pandoraboy
This will delete all PandoraBoy settings (not Pandora settings, just PandoraBoy, like hotkeys). Try restarting and re-registering your hotkeys with 0.8.0 and see if it improves things.

Posted on Jun 22, 2010 by Quick GiraffeBTW, to an earlier question: My personal hot keys all involve Ctrl-Opt-Cmd. For instance, Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-Space is my Play/Pause. Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-Right is my skip. If you're having trouble, please let me know what key combo you're using and I'll try recreating it.

Posted on Jul 8, 2010 by Happy HippoI am having the same trouble. I use this app daily and all of the hotkeys stopped working after upgrading the Adobe Flash player to version 10.1.53.64. I am unsure of the previous version I was running. PandoraBoy is version .8 and I am running OSX 10.6.4.
I tried to remove all of the hotkeys and reassign them again without success. I tried to reboot my machine without success. I deleted all of the preferences and reassigned my hotkeys with the terminal command above without success.
I tried at add a keyboard shortcut through the keyboard preferences. After I could see the shortcut reflected in the menu through PandoraBoy. That is when I noticed I cannot use the menu controls to control the music. Play/Pause, next song, etc work if I click within the flash of the application window. If I try to use the menu choices to perform the same functions this does not work.

I recently lost all hotkey functionality after upgrading to Adobe Flash Player 10.1 as well. I think there might be some relation to the update and the hotkeys not working.

Posted on Jul 27, 2010 by Quick GiraffeTry this:
- Launch PandoraBoy
- When it comes up, click on the window
- Select some other app
- Now see if the hotkeys work
I'm suspecting that if you never select the window, the events aren't getting sent to it because it may not be key yet.

Posted on Aug 9, 2010 by Happy ElephantFollowing the steps in comment 18:
- deleted prefs via terminal
- Launch PandoraBoy
- set hotkeys
- remain in PandoraBoy * hotkeys work
- switch to another app * hotkeys don't work
- Quit PandoraBoy
- Launch PandoraBoy
- When it comes up, click on the window * hotkeys work
- Select some other app
- Now see if the hotkeys work * hotkeys don't work
OS X 10.6.3 PandoraBoy 0.8.2 Flash 10,0,42,34 <<< note that behavior exists in Flash Player 10 as well!
My hotkey combo is ctrl-cmd-leftarrow.

Posted on Sep 16, 2010 by Happy ElephantUpgrading to Flash Player 10,1,82,76 restored hotkey functionality for me on OSX 10.6.4.
Posted on Sep 16, 2010 by Happy ElephantI spoke too soon. Not working anymore.
An additional symptom: when trying to set the hotkey for play/pause as ctrl-cmd-leftarrow, the leftarrow registers as "Space". ctrl-cmd-uparrow registers as ctrl-cmd-pad+, and ctrl-cmd-downarrow registers as ctrl-cmd-minus.
Just doing cmd-arrow or ctrl-arrow records fine, but still does not function.
With the hotkey registered as ctrl-leftarrow, with pandoraboy having focus, ctrl-leftarow does not register, but ctrl-cmd-leftarrow does!
Very confusing.

Posted on Nov 18, 2010 by Happy MonkeyIf anyone is still having issues with hotkeys after Flash updates I was able to resolve the issue by uninstalling Flash Player from my Mac. Then reinstalling the most recent version of Flash Player. (10.1.102.64).
