noizeInaBox Arduino Midi interface for TI Speak and Spell

http://noizeinabox.googlecode.com/svn/wiki/images/midi_interface.jpg

The noizeInaBox midi speak and spell midi interface is a Arduino shield which add midi capabilities to the S&S toy. When connected to the speak and spell and midi, it permit to create circuit bended sounds driven by midi notes.

I know that a similar interface already exist in kit and can be bought on a website, so why recreate the wheel ? simply because the commercially available kit is not "open" meaning the schematics and code is not provided.

The idea behind noizeInaBox midi speak and spell is to create a similar interface and keep the schematics and code "OPEN" to allow everybody to modify the way it works and keep possibility to add new feature for example create a pitch LFO on speak and spell midi controlled or add speak and spell midi controlled bend and loop.

I got this idea when i bought and use the "commercial" interface and i was quite frustrated because many feature could be added but no modification was possible.

Features: * Control S&S Speech synth with midi notes (bended style sounds). * use the shield as a midi shield. * Powerup the arduino with S&S batteries * add the possibility to midi control other feature (loop, bend, pitch, etc) * control Bank of sound using program changes

Future: * create a lookup table to map Speech synth addresss and midi notes. * create a teensy version of the shield to get smaller size and usb midi.

UPDATE Feb 2012 : The interface is working as expected. Code and schematics are available on this googlecode page.

What is a TeensyBoy

TeensyBoy is just a ArduinoBoy code port for a Teensy uC. What is ArduinoBoy ? ArduinoBoy is a device using a Arduino (developped by Trash80) that enable MIDI capabilities for a old Nintendo GameBoy using special software like LSDJ, nanoloop, mGB.
