I am also facing the same issue. Seems like this might have been done as part of a new update that I updated on the phone couple of days before. Also intermittently I get an error saying Contacts has stopped and forcibly asking to close the application. Please analyze this properly and revert back with a working fix.

I have suddenly started facing the same problem since past 2 weeks - (a) for incoming calls an incorrect caller name shows and (b) for outgoing calls the right number is dialled but wrong name is displayed.
Very annoying and inconvenient.
We should all dump SAMSUNG phones and change to other brands unless the Company provides a fix.?

since two weeks, I am also facing the same display complaint which is causing very inconvenient for communication. once we do mobile power off and on, the display get set right. It has become regular practice at least twice a day.

HI, fellow Samsung core 2 , users, ... same problema with me.. then I had just turned the device (my galaxy Samsung core 2 unit), and (incoming calls i.d.) functions got back to normality and correctly.. problem`s got solved... for now..

I am also facing same issue. incoming and outgoing calerid shows incorrectly. Samsung service center has not been able to fix the problem. my 4th and last visit they changed some settings and it worked for 2 days but the problem has come back.

Basically samsung india is a pathetic company. They don't care about their customers complaints. I have been to the service center and all they do is reset the device which even a kid can do now days. The problem still persists. Illiterate and unresponsive staff both at call centers and service centers. My humble advice to all you people "DO NOT EVER BUY SAMSUNG PHONE IN INDIA"

I bought this phone in August 2015. Have been to samsung service center 5 times, called samsung technical support numerous times, they reset the device firmware and hand it over everytime by saying "this problem won't occur again". And guess what, the problem is back everytime. It has major caller ID issues (The name and number displayed during incoming call is WRONG), samsung says its an android issue, but its not. dtisplay has persisted for 6 months. The only (temporary) cure is to
're-start' the phone when it occurs. Secondly, the Samsung service staff

The same problem happens with my mother's duos phone hope some fix comes.. May be samsung is waiting for us to replace the phones n never to deal wid the problem.. I miss the good old days when phones used to work for three four years without having to change the handset...now the companies seem to have come up with colgate strategy(making the mouth of the paste tube bigger so content runs out faster) they are making handsets which need replacing in a year or two

I have solved my problem. After investigation I have noticed that 2 contacts have the same phone number. I have corrected phone in one contact and now it works very well.

Found a solution for this (more like a workaround)!
At least it worked on a colleague's phone (the same model, some Samsung dual core duos or whatever).
So he had exactly the same issue and I started investigating.
Found out that there's a setting in the caller app, saying:
Show my caller ID (with the following options):
- Network default
- Hide number
- Show number
So his phone was on "Network default" and after changing it to "Show number" seems to have fixed the issue.
May be you can all try it and feed back the others here if it worked for you.

Description
From last few weeks, when I receive a call, the phone displays incorrect contact id/name which is existing in contact list. However the call log shows it correctly when the call is done. This also happens when I make a call to any stored number.
e.g. When I get a call from person A, the phone shows Incoming call from some C with C's number.
Can it be virus? As I have internet and I have downloaded few Android based games on my phone like Angry Birds, news app, etc.
Is this a issue with my phone or OS? How to fix it? please help if you know.
