The documentation for the file format at http://code.google.com/p/xar/wiki/xarformat is nowhere near enough to actually implement a XAR reader or writer, and is also apparently incorrect. Since a file format cannot be truly open without being exhaustively documented, it would be quite nice to a have a proper spec to refer to for those who want to make their own implementations of the format.
