Needed enhancements for Visual Word Count

The Visual Word Count window should allow me to continue typing while remaining open. I am using v. 1.1.9 and openoffice 3.0.1

Ideally it should update itself in real time but it would also be acceptable if it updated itself periodically.

Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to set this as an enhancement and not a defect.
