transcriptions - issue #27

Can't uninstall or remove application

Posted on Jan 9, 2015 by Helpful Horse

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Close all programs 2. Open Applications folder 2. Drag Transcriptions to Garbage basket

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? This should put the application in the basket so it can be emptied and the program removed. Instead it does not go into the basket.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? This is 1.0 of transcriptions. I tried it on OS X 10,9 and upgraded to 10.10 hoping that would make the delete work.

Please provide any additional information below.

I tried to reproduce your problem on 10.10, but so far, it worked to put the App in the basket. Was it open while you tried to put it to the trash? Do you have the admin-rights necessary to delete apps from the /Applications-directory? Is something written in the Console (Console.app)?

Thanks.

No it was not open. I've tried just closing it but also tried a forced quit. I also tried rebooting and and trying to drag it before it has run at all. Yes I have administrator rights. I'm able to uninstall other applications using this drag to trash method. There are no messages in console created when I try to uninstall.

Is there some kind of warning shown when you try to drag the app to the Trash? Can you run Transcriptions in 10.10? If not, are there any warnings displayed? Is it possible to open the app-package (right-click on the icon => Show Package Contents)?

Resolved! While it seems it won't uninstall from the Applications tool on the LaunchPad, it does uninstall if I open the Applications folder in Finder. Then, from finder drag the transcriptions application to the trash. That works. Thanks for the quick response.

Concering the mp3-issue: Transcriptions can open any audiofile you can open with AVKit from Apple. Can you open your mp3 with your quicktime-player? Then it should work with Transcriptions (open the file by clicking on the "folder"-icon below the player)

Kind regards
