semantik - issue #32

Semantik 0.8.3 won't open .sem file saved in previous version

Posted on May 28, 2013 by Grumpy Elephant

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Run Semantik 2. Open a .sem file saved in a previous version (not sure which version I had, but a recent one). 3. Receive an error message: "Could not load the document <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf8"?> <semantik version="1">" after that, it gives out part of the file in text mode ...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect semantik to open the file as usual. Instead I get the error message.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? 0.8.3 on both recent Ubuntu & Fedora editions

Please provide any additional information below. I provide one of the files that didn't open as an attachment.

Have you copy-pasted text from google chrome?

Please overwrite the file in your installed folder by this one: http://code.google.com/p/semantik/source/browse/trunk/src/filters/main.py

(on an Ubuntu system, it is installed as: /usr/share/kde4/apps/semantik/filters/main.py)

I have the same issue on my ubuntu 13.04 system and Semantik 0.8.3

The file does contain text copied from Chromium.

The suggested solution of replacing "main.py" with the file posted above did not solve the problem, it only made things worse - causing no files to open.

The file that you attached previously can be loaded without any problem in Semantik 0.9.1.

If this is still a problem, attach the file here.
