What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Start OS from pristine install 2. Desktop icons OK 3. Reboot and create pup_save file 4. Restart using this pup_save
Desktop icons should be the same as they were on pristine install. Application icons have disappeared.
Puppy 4.3Alpha that will finalise as 4.4

Posted on Mar 8, 2010 by Swift OxHi; this happened to me too.
I did a "short-cut" frugal install by copying the files from a mounted .iso into a boot directory. Ran first time with pfix=ram, saved my settings etc and rebooted. All the desktop icons have now been replaced with the default for an executable. They still work, so it's the desktop that's gone awry

Posted on Apr 26, 2010 by Helpful DogThis is the same as issue 76. And related to the fact that a) all the icons displayed by the "add icons" tray at screen left have also become generic; and b) that pcc/desktop/manage trays doesn't work.

Posted on May 2, 2015 by Happy MonkeyI got the same problem for puppy slacko 5.7.0 I got it after saving to the session file (slakosave*.2fs) I suppressed it, then reboot, then saved again with all standard parameters for session file (ext2, no encryption...) and now my icons are all right. Try it!
