puppy-development - issue #18

USB modeswitcher rules are out of date; a new modeswitch script name conflicts with Puppy's.

Posted on Nov 24, 2009 by Massive Camel

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Boot with a Huawei E1550 3G wireless modem. 2. 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Modem should be detected and usable. Instead it is not detected.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Puppy 4.3.1, usbmodeswitch 1.04, configuration file dated 6/09.

Please provide any additional information below. A configuration file dated 8/09 is available for conversion to udev rules, including support for the E1550. A new program version, 1.05, is available but encountered a segmentation fault during testing. It adds features puppy is not ready to use, but includes a script, usb_modeswitch.sh, which is the same name as Puppy's script that supports its mode-switch udev rules, constituting an unacceptable duplication of names.
