puppy-development - issue #16

Modem diagnostic tool omits several relevant logs and data, and is awkward for users.

Posted on Nov 24, 2009 by Massive Camel

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Run the pmodemdiag tool after booting with a USB wireless modem plugged in. 2. Download and install the tool, then run from command line as "./pmodemdiag". 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Generated tarball should contain all files and data relevant to troubleshooting modem problems. some log files for "mode switching" are not included.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Puppy 4.3.1.

Please provide any additional information below. The pmodemdiag tool is evolving. Additional logs have been identified as necessary for analysis of wireless modem issues. The tool was created to be installed by the user as needed, into the root directory, as it is rarely needed. However, since modem issues will persist, the tool (a short bash script) would be more readily usable as part of the Puppy distros.
