What steps will reproduce the problem?

Run pandoc on the following input:

test^[my [note] contains brackets].

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected a footnote with the content: "my [note] contains brackets". Instead, the note is cut off at the first closing bracket: "my [note", and the rest appears in the main text.
