App indefinitely says updating, nothing happens

Posted on Aug 4, 2015 by Happy Cat

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Turn off automatc updates. 2. New set comes out. 3. Use force update. 4. Notificaton says updating, app crashes.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The app can be reopened and continues to function, but the notification that says "Checking for database updates" remains and never progresses, even after several days. Clicking on the notification starts to open a white window but immediately cancels and returns to the home screen.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Version 3.2.6 on a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, running Android 4.4.2.

Provide additional information below. I'm connected to wifi (mobile data is off), it's a stable network, but I know when the phone goes into sleep mode it shuts off network function. I think somewhere in the middle of updating, if the phone falls asleep, it breaks the update? I've had this problem a few times, but then all of a sudden the update will work. Mind you this is why I've turned off automatic updates. Turning off the phone is the only way to get the notification to go away.

Loss of network connectivity is handled more elegantly in the next release. You shouldn't see this issue anymore. Also, in the future, please use the active github issue tracker: https://github.com/AEFeinstein/mtg-familiar/issues/
