Miranda Version : v0.9.18 Unicode Build : Not that I know of Test Build # (if applicable) : Plugin Version # (if applicable) :
What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. If you open Options > Window there is a option for "Tool style main window". If you select this option then the window is treated like a tool window and does not have a entry in the taskbar. If you uncheck this option a entry does show in taskbar. This behavior is expected of how a tool window is treated by Windows.
If you uncheck "Show title bar" then the option "Tool style main window" above grays out. If a user wants to now get rid of the taskbar entry they have to check "Show title bar" then check the "Tool style main window" then uncheck "Show title bar" again. all this just to get rid of the taskbar entry.
What I think should happen! I agree that when you uncheck "Show title bar" the option "Tool style main window" should no longer be relevant because you cannot see the the menu bar any more so why show an option for it. Problem is that this option you are graying out is still relevant for hiding the taskbar entry. I was thinking the following:
When "Show title bar" is checked the name of the option should be "Tool style main window/hide application from taskbar" this would explain what this option does. When "Show title bar" is unchecked this option is no longer relevant to "tool style main window" so change the label to only read "Hide application from taskbar" and do not gray out the option
Next to that if you can just add a second option under that one called "hide application from taskbar" to modify that option independently of the title bar. but I don't know if you can separate that from the other option.
This would make things a lot easier to understand. I like having a small tiny window and I could not figure out how to get rid of that taskbar entry and was driving me bonkers till one day I was playing with options and I remember from my programming days that a tool window does not have a taskbar entry and it was a ahh ha moment.
