What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Select "Find/add contacts" from Menu

What is the expected result? Get a new Window in which I can add a new contact.

What happens instead? I immediately get a popup saying "miranda32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I don't even get to the step where I get to choose the protocol. Miranda crashes right away when I select the "Find/add contacts" menu item. So, the search window doesn't even open.

But wait!?????? It now works!? I tried at least 5 times yesterday evening: search while offline, search while online, and some more variations, but all of them crashed immediately.

The only difference I can think of is that yesterday I was working through Remote Desktop on this PC, and now I am actually physically behind that PC. Maybe that's what causes the crash?

Let me grab another PC here and test that... damn, nope thats not it, still works!?

Just to be clear: I did not change anything since last night... not even rebooted. I'll try again tonight, will then have the same situation as last night.

Well, your crash is impossible to duplicate, Find/Add works for me just fine.

Try disabling nview.

And update Metacontacts plugin to the latest version.

You're not going to believe this one: I'm now at home again, like yesterday, and trying to search while being connected to my Office PC via Remote Desktop, and it doesn't work again!!

Disabled nView on office PC: still crashes immediately

My Metacontacts plugin is up to date: v0.14.0.10

So apparently it only crashes when you search while you are working via Remote Desktop from a non-local network. Weird...

I found the culprit!! It's Splitview (www.splitview.com) Splitview is only active when using 2 monitors while doing RDP, which is what I have at home. When I tried RDP at the office earlier today, I used a single monitor system, so Splitview was not active.

Disable Splitview: search works, enable Splitview: search crashes.

No it's not latest Metacontacts 0.14.0.13 so no you do not have the latest. You need to get it from sje's site.
