What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I don't know. It worked fine for months. Pages were last added to the
notebook on 12/26/09 with no problem.
2. Starting yesterday, it now just pops up an error message that it can't
open the notebook.
3. Nothing is logged in the error log.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect to see the folders of the notebook. What I do see is an error box with the following message: Could not load notebook 'E:\Carl\Dev\AgileBatchControl\AgileBatchControlNotes'.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? It started under .6 and I tried upgrading to .61 but it did not help. I'm running Microsoft Vista (64 bit) but I tried running KeepNote in XP (SP2) mode but that did not help either.
Please provide any additional information below. I can not think of anything that has been changed between when it was working and when it stopped.

Posted on Jan 2, 2010 by Quick ElephantOpen the file yournotebook/notebook.nbk
Does it look truncated (i.e. does not end with "")? Does younotebook/node.xml look truncated?
If either of these files look truncated just add the proper closing tag and KeepNote will then be able to open the notebook. KeepNote 0.6.1 takes extra precautions against allowing files to truncate. Maybe you powered off while keepnote was saving.

Posted on Jan 2, 2010 by Quick WombatThanks for the quick response Matt. It is certainly possible that I corrupted the files because I've had several sudden shutdowns recently. The notebook.nbk has 511 bytes and the node.xml has 1036 bytes but they are all nulls. If I just delete them, will they be recreated or should I restore them from backup. Is there any information in them that would be out of sync with the current files if I restore them from an old backup?
Thanks,
Carl

Posted on Jan 3, 2010 by Quick ElephantThe node.xml only contains simple meta-data: title, creation date, nodeid (used for linking), etc. Restoring from backup should be fine. The notebook.nbk file also just contains simple notebook-specific preference data and should also be easy to replace with a file from one of your backups.

Posted on Jan 12, 2011 by Happy WombatMy .NBK was actually missing, which I guess prevented me from opening my notebook, however there was a .NBK.TMP file in the problem directory so I renamed it to the .NBK and everything seemed to open fine. The .TMP was no doubt related to the hard and unplanned shutdown that windows provided. Luckily the fix seemed easy and seemed to work.
