Simplify the textual definition and improve the example of use for IAO_0000005 objective specification:
- change textual definition: A directive information entity that describes an intended process endpoint.
- change example of use: The objective of a ChIP assay is to identify protein and DNA interaction.
- add editor note: 2013-09-23 OBI call: Simplify textual definition by removing following part: When the objective specification is part of a plan specification, the concretization of the plan specification is realized in a planned process in which the bearer tries to control the world so that the process endpoint is achieved.
- change status: ready for release

This term is very similar to "plan specification". Both have a dual nature: they can concretized in writing or in the plan that an agent has. It is hard to simplify the definition while remaining precise.

- Do NOT change textual definition.
- Do NOT add proposed editor note (which would go with the definition).
- Do change status to "ready for release".
- Add synonym: "goal specification".
- Change example of use: "In the protocol of a ChIP assay the objective specification says to identify protein and DNA interaction."
- Add a new editor note saying something like: "The objective specification can be concretized in a written document, or it can be concretized in a plan that an agent has to ..." Alan will finish this editor note in the tracker.

Posted on Mar 31, 2014 by Happy MonkeyFor an editor note. In: ""In the protocol of a ChIP assay the objective specification says to identify protein and DNA interaction" There is a protocol which is the ChIP assay protocol. That protocol is, in addition to being concretized on paper, can be concretized as a realizable entity - a plan of a (that inheres in) a person.
The objective specification is the part that says that some protein and DNA interactions are identified. This is a specification of a process endpoint (the boundary in the process before which they are not identified and after which they are).
During the realization of the plan, the goal is to get to the point of having the interactions, and participants in the realization of the plan try to do that.
