independence - issue #452

Cannot download firmware error

Posted on Mar 19, 2008 by Happy Bird

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. I plug in the iPhone and then launch independence 2. I click on activate phone 3. It says downloading firmware and then I get an error saying 'couldn't download firmware'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Based on the tutorial jailbreak should open and I should see code on the iPhone

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? iPhone has firmware 1.1.3, I am using Mac OSX 10.4.11

Please provide any additional information below. How should I be opening independence? I just have it saved to my desktop, does it matter?

Make sure you are connected to the internet. Also, sometimes Apple's servers have downtime, so wait and try again.

If all else fails, you can download it manually from:

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061- 4037.20071107.5Bghn/iPhone1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw

and then place it in ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/

Then run iNdependence again and try to activate.
