grub4dos-chenall - issue #12

boot error on Acer TravelMate when grub4dos installed to MBR

Posted on Dec 23, 2010 by Happy Kangaroo

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Install grub4dos to MBR using grubinst 2. Try to boot from Acer Travelmate 3. Get Unregistered Exception handler

I am reporting this from posts http://reboot.pro/10503/page__view__findpost__p__117680 and http://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=546.0

The grldr.mbr code should be changed to be more compatible with normal MBR boot code.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below. http://reboot.pro/10503/page__view__findpost__p__117680

You may post a patch for grub4dos. Or you may create another branch of grub4dos and continue to maintain that branch.

Note that "EB" is not wrong, and sometimes it is useful(e.g., a hybrid MBR/BPB sector, triple MBR, etc). The patch should provide an option for the user to choose "EB" or "33", and the default should be "EB" in my opinion.
