Important note:

I've heard reports that the latest version of GRiS (an untested last-ditch attempt to fix google authentication) may require deleting the file at /var/mobile/GRiS/items.sqlite before it will work. I will not be providing further support or bugfixes. Sorry folks, but Apple makes the iPhone a sucky place to be a developer.

I'm happy to hand over the reins to another developer, if you're interested get in touch. You don't even need my permission, as it's open source - just fork it and start distributing it with a different package ID. But if you're serious about continuing GRiS development, I'll add you to the google code project so you can administer it.

GRiS (Google Reader iPhone Sync)

..is an RSS feed reader for the iPhone. There are already a few available, but this one features:

• It syncs with Google Reader. So items you read will be marked as read, and you can star items to come back to them later.
• It saves images in feeds for offline viewing. Surprisingly few iPhone RSS readers do this, which sucks if (like me) you own an iPod Touch.
• It's free and open-source

Installation

Here, you have two options: * grab it from the standard BigBoss repository that comes with Cydia * add my repository: http://gfxmonk.net/cydia/ The benefit of using my repository is that you can download new versions instantly; the BigBoss repository has a lag of up to 24 hours.

GRiS is not perfect. Please add to the issues page if you find a bug or have a feature request. Please make sure that your issue does not duplicate an existing one.

GRiS is written and maintained by Tim Cuthbertson, plus contributions and open-source code written by others (BeautifulSoup and pyrfeed handle most of the actual data processing). You can contact me at tim3d.junk+gris at gmail dot com. That's obviously a spam-trap email address, but I'll still see it if it's from a real person.
