Map Icons Collection is a set of more than 1000 free icons to use as placemarks for your POI (Point of Interests) locations on your maps. You can use them on Google Maps with the "My maps" feature or automatically by using the Google Maps API.

Organized into logical color coded categories, for better and quicker overview, you get a complete and diverse collection of unique markers for point of interests, for example cinemas, hotels, banks, restaurants and stores.

  • All our ICONS described, tagged and organized into categories
  • How to add our icons to your own maps or to Google Earth.
  • Make a suggestion if you are missing an icon or want to contribute.
  • Donate to the project to show your appreciation and to support future development or just to promote it.

New dedicated website !
There is now a new site for Map Icons Collection. The new site has some new features that everyone was waiting for : custom colors, new styles, zip download, numbered icones. Please check the new URL :

New GIMP Template
Created another template for potential icon builders wanting to use the free (GPL) multi-platform (Linux/Mac/Win) Photoshop alternative GIMP. You find it, instructions on how our icons are designed plus the another available templates on the Contribute Wiki page.
