evoluspencil - issue #227

Enable drag and drop for tabs (pages) like in Firefox.

Posted on Oct 14, 2010 by Happy Giraffe

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. I've created several pages (20+ ) 2. Moving a page which is last to the first position is very slow by using the move left button. 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I would expect drag and drop.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Version 1.2 on Windows 7

Yes, this is really neccessary. The same problem occurs in Ubuntu. Moving a page makes the whole app dim for seconds, even on Core i5 2.66 GHz with 4GB RAM. Also, when I make a series of pages and then want to add a new one next to the first tab in the tab menu, I have to click "Move left" like 20 times which takes up to 5 minutes.

That is way too long.

I completely agree! I am using Pencil to layout an application with many screens. It's becoming quite frustrating to have to keep moving each tab back/forth to get the right page placement.

I agree as well. It might be easier to add an entry in the top left menu to move a tab before or after a particular tab. Indeed with 50 pages it becomes very long to move a tab

I just thought, a layer windows for tabs (and for elements as well because managing the z-index of elements with only one menu is horrible) like photoshop or paint.net would be awesome!

Agreed - this used to work in earlier version of the standalone application on Windows 7 - this has been broken in 2.0.2. Please fix - thanks.

this would indeed be excellent. If I rearrange via Keyboard-Shortcut, other tab's content is usually lost (Issue 518)
