Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Helpful GiraffeThanks for the suggestion. Our development team has looked into this feature request. This will not be included in the M release. However, this may be considered for future releases.

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Helpful WombatI would like to say that I refused the Lollipop update precisely because it removed the black notification tray and dark system UI. It seems I will also be refusing the Marshmallow update now. Look at what OnePlus 2 did. Dark Themes aren't incompatible with Material Design, on the contrary.
Even Microsoft's failed Windows Phone has 2 theme sets (Light/Dark). Come on, Google. I thought Android was about freedom of options.

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Helpful HippoThis is an unfortunate decision as I was looking forward to having a dark theme option again finally since it was removed after ICS. It seems like allowing for the user to customize their phone would be a useful feature, even if you hid it under Developer Options. Please reconsider it's inclusion!

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Grumpy HippoI agree with @6. Plus, what are the reasons why you removed this feature? It's really useful for a lot of people.

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Happy WombatI suffer from sensitive vision issues that require me to use dark themes. I really hope you consider implementing this as an accessibility feature, at the very least.
It's important for health reasons, as well as cosmetic reasons.
Just because you've never been in a wheelchair doesn't mean there shouldn't be any ramps.

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Swift CamelAn unfortunate decision, expected something at least for this version as an option in the menu developers, so that a future developers can develop supporting the two themes, and when released the new version of Android (After Marshmallow), have a greater amount of apps supported

Posted on Sep 10, 2015 by Quick HippoThis was a huge mistake, do you have a reason why you pulled the dark theme? Clearly there are people who would benefit from it, and to pull support without an explanation is very disappointing.

Posted on Sep 12, 2015 by Grumpy HippoI am visually impaired and depend on dark themes to read comfortably. Please be considerate of us who live with vision disabilities. We matter too. For myself I still enjoy reading, which is difficult to do with a glaring white background. It is not an issue of cosmetics for many of us. It is a necessity.

Posted on Oct 21, 2015 by Helpful CatSeriously. Google has shown themselves to be the only technology company that takes itself seriously. They consistently produce new, useful, substantiated products. I don't see many other tech companies (or even companies in other fields) do as fantastic of a job as you guys do.
The innovative, open source philosophy. Don't see others doing this. You don't just steal old ideas and say "Look at this new thing that has been around for years that we invented today." You optimize the code line by line to see what it can do. That's dedication.
Every month, the Android security updates. Awesome! What a great way to protect against zero-days. Original ideas, insightful and fun products, I love it!
All the Nexus phones. Always fresh updates. Rarely do I see recycled ideas or bloat like I do from literally every other phone line.
Getting to know Android x.x.x. Perfect. Probably my favorite recurring thing ever.
Basically, what I'm trying to say, is thank you so much for producing actual innovation. Thank you for not trying to wall the garden with exclusives and lock-in! Thank you for trying to get market share from quality products with open source software.
Seriously, I love you guys. I hope you can tell from all the stars and how many of your stories hit the tech page! But even still, I wanted to let you know how absolutely grateful I am (and we all are)! Stick around, and keep up the fantastic work! We don't take it for granted, even if it might seem like it sometimes!
tl,dr; I LOVE YOU GOOGLE! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! <3

(For those unaware, #28 is a modified version of a reddit comment about the news site Android Police)
