TwitterBerry Translations
Updated Jun 3, 2008 by jasch...@gmail.com

Introduction

This page details how to create a new translation file for TwitterBerry.

Getting Started

You will need the following tools:

After you have the tools, prepare some translations.

  • Check out the project from Google code.
  • Open the TwitterBerryTranslation.jdw file in the RIM BlackBerry JDE.
  • If you are updating an existing translation, open the given package and choose the correct .rrc file. The RRC file must have the IS0-639 language code (and optionally the ISO-3166 country code).
  • After your translations are done, build and run the project. The new resources should be loaded into your simulator, and once your BlackBerry is set into a language, TwitterBerry should load the appropriate language file.

For more information, see the BlackBerry Localization guide

Adding a new language

  • Copy one of the existing project files (TwitterBerryResource_XX.jdp) and save it with the new language code (TwitterBerryResource_YY.jdp).
  • Create a new resource file (TwitterBerryRes_YY.rrc) in the src\com\orangatame\mobile\twitterberry\resource folder.
  • Add this new resource file to your new project. This project should contain references to TwitterBerryRes.rrc and TwitterBerryRes.rrh, and a reference to your new file (TwitterBerryRes_YY.rrc)
  • Start translating inside the new .rrc file!

I'm sorry, but if I have to install software and build packages I am no longer volunteering. I was hoping to just translate a txt file.

Done.

Jason, check email. I was unable to update project in Netbeans.

I've sent you project files with svn files included.

What languages have been completed? What languages are still needed?

Comment by hurr...@gmail.com, Dec 29, 2008

Do you need Portuguese??

Comment by tsmacdon...@gmail.com, Jan 29, 2009

+spanilli For being a volunteer effort, that's just a bit too much hassle.

Comment by kaish...@gmail.com, Feb 12, 2009

Why is this so obfuscated? All one should have to do is submit an appropriate resource file.
