How odd, I just tried it and it worked for me. If it says it can't talk to Twitter then generally it is a problem at Twitter's end, but we might be at fault, I guess.

Have you got a very large volume of data to backup? That might be a factor.

I just tried it again and got the same " Oh no! Twitter is busy and won't talk to me (error 502). Please try again later.".

I am trying it on my dogs' acct which has the least amount of tweets to back up (1376 tweets in total). I don't know if that is considered a lot or not. I've tried it on my @itweetart and my main acct also and no luck on any of them. So sad, I used to have it scheduled on my calendar to backup w/ Tweetake, but after so many tries am thinking need to find alternative?

I LOVE this app, I just don't know what else to try. Open for sugg

I tried again and got mixed results. But my "Your Tweets" option is now failing in the same way as yours.

As it seems to be repeatable I'll investigate further and report back.

I looked into our log and Twitter is returning an over capacity message. What's more, it's doing it in the wrong way according to its own documentation. So I'm not sure of the best solution right now.

Our app is whitelisted and the limits that it's getting should be plenty for general working, so I'm not sure what can be done. I could return the partial backup but then people would complain about that.

Hi Alfred,
Thank you for being so diligent. I thought the Twitter side might be affected by busier times, so that's why I was trying in the middle of the night (CST zone). Have been trying all diff times previously.

Your app simply does the nicest .csv file and overall job so I hope Twitter gets back on track soon to allow it to work. They limited severely the old tweets a couple weeks ago and I wasn't able to go back even a week to thank my #FF peeps. I may just keep looking for a substitute app in the mean time and keep coming back to check in.

Regardless, I am grateful for your app and the many many times I have used it in the past with fantastic results. It saved me many hours since I send out a lot of quotes and every once in a while go back to recycle the best ones when my time is limited. I've sent my friends here too. Keep me informed if you find out anything new, i appreciate what you have done, either way!

PS. I'd go for a partial list from tweetake vs. a random tweet, undated, unorganized list from the last sub. app I tried : )

There's now an ignore errors option which just returns all the data that it's got so far.

Twitter is decidedly ropey as it's failing to return the authorisation data a lot of the time. I think I'll look into saving them in a cookie.

Any news on this issue? I have had the same problem for ages now, and lost almost a month of tweets because of it. To be sure, I can retrieve tweets from the last month or so when marking the "Ignore errors/partial backup"-option. Guess that from now on I must go in to backup more often. But anyway I would be happy to know if this issue is still on the agenda to be fixed, as I would be really happy if the lost data could eventually be retrieved.

Hi, as I mentioned above this error comes from Twitter. If Twitter won't give us the data then we can't return it to you. A complete fix would seem impossible, though we might be able to improve the success rate a little bit. But I don't have the time right now to experiment with uncertain solutions.

It would be better if Twitter were to deal with their own load issues and make their API work as published, rather than the present very unsatisfactory situation.
