Issue 59: GIRAF Place doesn't work
Project Member Reported by jkg@jkg.dk, May 18, 2011
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upload apk with same name, new apk (with "errors" (warnings))
2. Have file rejected
3. Information on existing apk on girafplace is now updated

4. Upload apk again with new app name
5. apk is rejected (app already exists-ish error message)
6. application with errors-button is added

7. upload apk with original name
8. have apk rejected (app already exists-ish error message)

Now I can't upload my add to GIRAF Place, and can't seem to remove the old apps, or do anything about the ones with errors?

OK, I might just have been about to explode - sorry about that.

I THINK I've gotten something useful uploaded to the giraf place. Maybe just change problem to "Error handling completely useless and confusing :( "

Do you update the version code when re-uploading?
If not, please try to do so.

The error message might be bad, and, if the above fixes the issue, will be looked into.

1st: Sorry for raging, was a bit stressed out :)

Ye, I think updating the version code fixed it (hard to say though, as I can't tell what version is on giraf place)

Thinking about it again, i think the main problems are the following:

1) Application info on existing apps is updated, even though apk is rejected
2) Erroneous app-entries are stored in giraf place (with an added "Errors" button). I don't know why they're there, or what they mean. To see what I mean by erronous entries, try and log in as sw6e@lcdev.dk and see the many entries.
3) Error messages are not very informative, could specify what the error is, instead of simply stating an error occured.

That's fair enough - we are well aware that GirafPlace might cause some issues. GirafPlace is not intended to work perfectly - not even well, to be honest :). That being said, it should, of course, be possible to upload applications to it - but it is not intended to be more usable than that.

Version codes were updated between uploads, I can see the entries in the database now. (last version was 1182, just in case you need it).

Regarding the problems:
1: Should be "fixable" by overwriting with a new application. (Which is not a proper solution - but it should be enough. Please report if that causes errors).
2: The reason for displaying error-entries is that the errors that happened during upload should be accessible after upload too.
3: We are very well aware of that :) We might have an idea of what the problem is, just by seeing the error message. You are more than welcome to ask, if you encounter issues.

We are attempting to avoid fixing stuff at the GP-Web, as it might cause other errors to happen. That being said: We of course consider the reported errors, and fix them if we can :)
