What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Dashboard->Courses
2. Export to XLS
3. Observe sheet name "courses"
4. Look at sample import data
5. Observe sheet name "course"

Basically this can't happen 100%. For example exported items show the unicode() which might be "Joe Student" while imports required a key like jstudent.

Obvious things like course vs courses will be fixed however. Please open any reports of similar items separably.

The import/export tools are intended for non sql fluent users. Therefore it's desirable to say "Joe Student" instead of their id or username.

We could do some hybrid approach such as allowing the import tool to accept both database names and human readable names but this would not work everywhere and might lead to greater confusion.

Okay. Things like username keys _could_ be included anyway, just like they
are for many other non-power-user import/exports (e.g. teachers' grades).
Maybe SWORD 2.5 or something can have this, or a different export that can
be modified and re-imported. Obviously it ain't high priority at all.

Need to decide on scope here. There are some reporting needs we don't have yet. For example we currently can't export student + student phone numbers unless you do an appy report which isn't always ideal. If appy supported spreadsheets that would solve it.

That crappy uno_reports could theoretically do this too, very slowly.

Also the additional report fields stuff.

A gui Libreoffice base type solution can do this. Also just premade reports can, this is how work study does it though it sort of sucks. Setting to New since a decision needs made.

We need to sit down and evaluate reports in general and decide on direction.

Just going to list current reports
- Appy (word docs, template based, very powerful only admins can create and they are complicated)
- Export to XLS, simple but limited. No customization. No foreign keys (just unicode())
- CWSP SQL builder awful needs replaced but where is the time and it actually works for them
- uno_reports - wanted to delete this but turns out it's very useful for grade templates. Very inefficient and simple. Can do spreadsheets
- Premade reports - These are often customized with gui widgets, like setting the time frame. On top of this you can add more related fields but only based on student. Example student.placement.name > company name.
- Of course you can always just attach the database to some gui thing like Libreoffice Base and make whatever reports or just use PHPMyAdmin

Relevant, Export to XLS now detects m2m relationships and spits out the unicode repr of each in a serialized format (comma separated)

This has been fixed somewhat. I'm considering it now part of UI inconsistencies.
