Originally reported on Google Code with ID 5841

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade Firefox (with Selenium IDE installed) to version 22
2. Execute IDE test cases

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The first failure in our test suite is:
[info] Executing: |clickAndWait | id=Login | |
[error] Unexpected Exception: fileName -> chrome://selenium-ide/content/selenium-core/scripts/htmlutils.js,
lineNumber -> 309, columnNumber -> 8

Selenium version: IDE 1.10.0 and 2.0.0
OS: Linux (Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS)
Browser: Firefox
Browser version: 22

Any ETA for resolution of this issue? I would put this as a High priority - I'm pretty
much DOA right now, unless you have a work-around.

Thanks - Jen

Selenium Server also seems to be impacted.

Apparently, the problem occurs when triggering mouse or keyboard events, more specifically,
element.dispatchEvent(evt) function (on several js files) on Firefox 22. I do not really
know the internals, just were trying to debug the extension, but don't know how to
fix it.

Maybe the dev team can throw some light on the issue.

This is also an issue for Firefox on Windows Server 2003. Like Jen I'm DOA because
of this.

Hi,

This issue has been fixed. I am in the process of releasing Selenium IDE v2.1.0. Due
to an expired certificate, the automatic updates to Selenium IDE is broken. You will
have to manually check and download it from the downloads page.

I am changing the status to Needs Clarification until I have some reports that it has
been fixed.

Cheers,

I downloaded and installed 2.1.0 of the IDE and ran a simple script that was previously
erring out. It runs fine now. I'll continue to test and see if anything else arises.

Upgraded to 2.1.0 in my portable FF 21 and ran my "morning patrol" test suite, which
walks around our sites and checks data dates and function. Worked perfectly.

Upgraded my portable FF to 22 and re-ran the morning patrol. Worked perfectly there,
too.

Well done all and thank you!

Thanks for the update, Samit.Badle. This definitely helped; however, now I have a similar

Just downloaded and installed the "unreleased" version 2.1.0, but still getting the

[error] Unexpected Exception: fileName -> chrome://selenium-ide/content/selenium-core/scripts/htmlutils.js,
lineNumber -> 340, columnNumber -> 8

when executing the "typeKeys" command (before installation, it only crashed earlier,
at other commands. Now it proceeds further, but stops at "typeKeys").

Upgraded to unreleased 2.1.0, on FF 22, and my test case gets a little further than
it did before the upgrade, but it still chokes early on when trying to simulate pressing
the enter key on a text input element:

If you are facing the problem in Selenium RC / Selenium Server, please note that Selenium
Server standalone v2.33.0 was released before my changes and does not contain my changes.
You can wait for the v2.34 release or grab a nightly build from our CI server, e.g.
http://ci.seleniumhq.org/selenium-server-d66d19890f10025ec81ae4ad68e247f64835ed1d.jar

Check this build and let me know if it works.

Yep this build is working fine, thanks!

And it is backward compatible with FF20, cool.

(I missed other changes in browserbot.js regarding _fireEventOnElement).

Can't wait for 2.34 to be released.
