Did you upgrade Twisted? The sasl component stuff was broken as of Twisted
2.2.0 =( Lots of stuff in Twisted was reorganized under the surface. =/

pyicq 0.8a + twisted 2.5.0 + jabberd2 2.1.9 works for me
