QIP's developers made another way to send exchanged statuses. It doesn't use a PEP. Look: <presence from="vasya@jabber.ru/QIP" xml:lang="ru" to="masha@jabber.org/QIP" > <priority>30</priority> <c xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/caps" node="http://qip.ru/caps" ver="0.1.1.14" /> <x xmlns="http://qip.ru/x-status" id="11" /> </presence> "id" option translates an x-status from a client. I attached a list of it. "id" may be not a number, for example "cigarette" is a word. It is possible to send and receive x-statuses using this method? QutIM and Jimm Aspro are also supporting QIP's exchanged statuses.

I don't know. There are a lot of servers which will never support a PEP, so I think this method will be used in future. They made it a long time ago. But I'm not a QIP developer, so I'm not guarantee it.

I asked QIP developers for an answer.

I asked QIP developers for an answer. They told that they were planning to switch, of course, but in a longer term. Google Talk, Yandex, most ejabberd-based servers are not working with PEP correctly or don't support PEP at all, so I think that they will switch when most servers will fully support PEP, plus some time for backward compatibility. I think that it will not happen soon :-)

QIP Infium is multiprotocol client with native ICQ support. This feature really necessary for it users? Currently PyICQt can only send PEP events, not receive it. Thereby server with PEP support don't required to see moods icons. |
