When I send message to offline contact, he get something like
«???@?8?2?5?B» instead of any text, any length or language.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Send message to offline peer.
2. Wait for peer to become online.
3. Message will be broken or lost at all.

I'm using PyICQt 0.8.1.3.

With Pidgin 2.5.5. works fine. Please, specify client name and version. Try change
Message Settings in Ad-Hoc

I switched encoding for outgoing offline messages from 'auto' to 'local
(windows-1251)' and a problem seems solved.

My client is a PSI 0.12.

ggrundik, where and how you change the encoding of offline messages? In client
program of sender, in client program of receiver, in pyicqt server, in jabber server?

In Ad-Hoc command to PyICQt ⇒ Settings ⇒ Message settings.
