Permissions enable members to perform specific actions in a project. Appropriate permissions are already defined for each role: Owner, Committer, and Contributor. Additional permissions can be granted to individual members, if needed.

Most project owners will never need to grant any individual member permissions. It is usually more important to describe each member's duties in plain language.

Duties:
  • Lead by providing a project vision and roadmap
  • Set up and maintain build tools and test automation
  • Plan the scope of release milestones and track progress
  • Review code for security and scalability
  • Test the system before each release
  • Design core libraries, write code and unit tests
  • Specify and write code for APIs and plug-in interfaces
  • Measure performance and find bottlenecks to optimize
  • Have fun hacking and learn new stuff!
  • Lead the UI design and incorporate feedback
  • Triage new issues and support requests from end-users
  • Review code changes and provide constructive feedback
  • Package releases from release branches
  • Document our development process and help new members
  • Design new features, write code and unit tests
  • Write end-user documentation and examples
  • Create graphic artwork, audio, and other data assets
  • Define database schemas and persistence layers
