This issue relates to the angle of depression of the mandible and essentially the accessible workspace available to the dentist for maneuvering the drill and doing his/her work. We are using a data-set of a young healthy adult (wisdom teeth developed but not erupted). The data set is a series of CT scans whereby the teeth are occlused and the oral cavity is closed. It is our goal to depress the mandible manually and would like to know if it possible to compute how wide the cavity should be, based on the dimensions of the upper and lower arches which are attainable from the scan.
