VG studio sent sample files - enamel, dentine and pulp. It would be good
to replace the three-layered cake with this one when the drilling
algorithm is done. You can download the files Dentine.zip, Enamel.zip and
Pulp.zip under ftp://ftp.volumegraphics.com/pub/.

We have been using OSIRIX in producing the graphic models based on CT scans. I am
attaching 3 files a lower right molar for your feedback: enamel layer of lower right
(LR) 6; dentine layer of LR6; pulp layer of LR6. Please ignore the colour of these
models. AJ, from Reading, is working on the aesthetics of the models. We want your
opinion on the shapes of these models; particularly the dentine layer. Thomas, the
summer student working with me, said that the dentine in the root could contain
cementum as the boundary is not clearly visible in the CT data source.

Comment from Steve Dunne. Sent to me by email.

The anatomy of the enamel needs refining to make the fissure pattern clearer.

The interface between the coronal dentine and the radicular dentine should be more
gradual. The root dentine does include cementum. The ‘nobbles’ over the surface
should be removed.

The pulp looks reasonable.

Steve
