Introduction
What is it all about?
Updated Mar 4, 2010 by zbigniew...@gmail.com

Introduction

The project aims at creating set of loosely connected reusable applications that aim the democratic processes and may be deployed in a decentralized system that aggregates and provides data from the government.

The major components present at the moment are:

  • openpolitics - central piece with database setup
  • openpolitics.browser - an application that aims at providing ability to present all data collected in the openpolitics DB to the user
  • openpolitics.api - an application that aims at providing ability to expose the data in a computer readable format so that applications can reuse the data

On top of that we're working on a set of small apps that can utilize openpolitics:

  • promisecheck - an application that allows users to store declarations of candidates during elections and verify them during their term
  • truthcheck - an application that aims at using group knowledge to verify statements

Separate, much less user-oriented apps, that are used in openpolitics apps:

  • moderation - an app that allows for adding a moderation step to any DB operation.

Where we are

The project has just begun, with an initial release on March 4th 2010. We're working on an implementation of the app in gov20.pl project, but the project should be ready to reuse and hack on by people working on e-government aspects in other countries.

How can I help?

If you find this project interesting, you probably have the right set of skills to help us at least conceptualize what is important, what should go where, etc.

Look at JuniorJobs for things to start with or figure out what you would like to see and start coding :)
