ndLua is a unencumbered, unrestricted Lua interpreter and compiler for the Nspire platform. It runs from the Ndless launcher, which allows arbitrary programs to be run. The Nspire OS 3.x series added Lua support, which offered more programming support to the Nspire calculators. However, the on-calc Lua is slow and restricted. Therefore, ndLua was created to offer a better and faster Lua interpreter that would allow more developer freedom and creativity. ndLua features two versions of the Lua interpreter: 5.1(.x) and 5.2(.x). The former version uses the LuaJIT backend, and is therefore very fast (up to 50x!). The latter uses the official Lua backend, which is still faster than the on-calc Lua. |
