Nabicht will be designed to fill the gaps in the Project Hosting offered by Google, adding on features such as code editing, syntax highlighting, and other things expected of a complete project management system.
Features
- Code editing: Nabicht will use and contribute back to the CodePress project for its editing frontend. It will also connect to a Subversion repository to allow developers to work directly from their browsers.
- Syntax highlighting: The current Subversion repository browser provided by Google displays the contents of textual files in plaintext. Nabicht will enhance the readability of project code using an external source code highlighter.
- Tight integration with Google Code: Nabicht will provide a seamless interface for a developer already using Google Code for project hosting, requiring no external information and co-existing with the official interface.
- Project statistics: Project statistics will be generated, including measures of project activity. Graphs can be generated from these statistics.
Starting points
Our project draws from a number of existing projects, including:
The above projects all provide different project management capabilities. Nabicht seeks to bring their various strengths under one umbrella. One of our primary motivations is to reduce headaches involved in establishing project infrastructure and free developers to get the work done.
