Issue 81: How is this different from competitors?

I see at least 2 other projects that are like yours:
- https://code.google.com/p/andar/

They are offering commercial licensing too, which I don't see featured on your site.
How do you differentiate yourself?

Hi,

thanks for reporting the issue.

As far as I know, both andar and nyartoolkit are based on marker-recognition techniques , whereas mixare is GPS (location) based.

If, as you say, they offer commercial licensing (dual licensing) then there is another difference since mixare is a truly Free Open Source Software project, i.e. no one has to sign a contribution agreement nor copyright assignement. Therefore the license cannot be changed unless all the single contributors agree on a new one. This is the best guarantee to a healthy community IMO.

I am closing this issue but invite you to discuss further on the mailing list ( http://groups.google.com/group/mixare-development ).
