Basically & simply speaking, in a matrix, suppose each square has two statues: one with life, one without life. Life will be kept in a square if it has two or three neighbors that with lives, or raised if it has three such squares. But the life in a square that is lonelier or crowded than that, the life will disappear. This is the Conway's Life rule. There're still many other rules.
