I need to know how well the game runs on lower end machines. That's you
techercizer.

Recent commit seemed to be a significant speedup. Curious how this is for
you though on your laptop.

*insert feigned offense at being the "lower machine" here*

At the "good" setting I still experience significant lag both walking and lifting. I
can't be far above 10 fps.

yeah, I tested on someone else's laptop, and it was pretty bad. We'll try this further
with a different map when we get another, cause I'm still uncertain it is specifically
the collision mesh.

turn an fps counter on so we can see what we get fps-wise on different settings

That would help; I tried screwing around with RivaTuner to find my FPS, but I don't
think it's compatible.

K, i've scripted one in (not on svn yet), but it seems to be off in actual fps count
Unity's editor has an fps counter built in, and it's saying 30 fps more than the little
scripted one I added. We'll assume your actual fps is 50% more than what it's saying
(60/2 = 30 + 60 = 90), so be warned that it won't be entirely accurate.

To enable it, you'll press f12

Latest FPS rating is in; I'm averaging 4fps on the "good setting according to the
counter, which seems accurate. Add in your calculations, and I guess it's 6fps.

fyi. i get around 75-90 fps(50-60 on the counter) WITH the Gekko-go there, when its
gone i get around 120-135 fps(80-90 on the conter) without it there. these are rough
averages, sometimes goes lower, sometimes higher at times. so yeah.

this is running on Fantastic setting, windowed at 1440x900.

my system specs are as follows!
CPU: AMD AM2 X2 64 6000+(3ghz duel core)
RAM: 2gb DDR2
GFX: 8800 GTS 512mb

yeah, it runs a bit faster for me, depending one where I'm looking (clouds cause it to
dip a bit).

Techercizer is on a laptop though and I kinda would like it to run 'decently',
considering we don't even have that many things in there.

So Torchling has 2G of RAM, I have 4GB, and he still runs 20x better than I do at two
intensity settings higher than mine? What resource is being consumed to the point of
system lag here?

it will either be the cpu or the gfx card that can't handle it, but i'm gonna assume
its the gfx card as its a laptop, they tend not to be very good when it comes to gfx
cards unless is a specialised gaming laptop! but i dont know any specs of your
laptop, so yeah...

speaking of which, techercizer: does the current tunnels map run any better?
Mar 15, 2010
Project Member #12 Techerci...@gmail.com
Hells yes. It runs at a smooth 45(?) FPS on the "Beautiful" setting.

Update, it reads 25-30 FPS (so 40-45) on the highest "Fantastic" setting during LFO
flight.

I know, I was just bumping this to a different release. Sorry.

I love you forever for putting a map select in the host options.

HELLO TUNNELS!

Slowdowns are primarily due to the gekko go. I'm not sure why. Hopefully by using the new model from doug when I actually get it in the svn I can fix the problems.

Then why doesn't blowing up the gekko fix my low fps?
Jul 6, 2010

in the new (broken) build, there is no gekko. It runs a lot faster than with it.

I've been testing this with my laptop, not my desktop, so I do notice the framerate differences.
