don't show user creation in recent wiki edits on LW sidebar

Posted on Apr 4, 2013 by Massive Elephant

Almost all LW wiki activity is spambot user account creation. They mostly can't post because of the spam filter, but this does make the LW sidebar for 'recent wiki activity' basically useless. Hence, I request that user account creation events not be shown in the LW sidebar.

Before spending time on this it might be worth considering whether it's worth having this in the side bar at all. Perhaps it would be better to remove it or substitute it with this: https://code.google.com/p/lesswrong/issues/detail?id=203

Eliezer, what is your preference?

I'd like to see Recent Changes again. I think that would encourage edits. Top 5 articles would be something for a wiki sidebar, not an LW main sidebar.

Okay. So let's go with the thing I originally proposed. Thanks, Wes!
