Modular Extruder

Assuming that the Z Carrier (carriage) has modular (adjustable) components (like the whole structure) which encourage the usage of multi-purpose parts, a modular extruder can be placed instead of the milling bit, to wit the Z axis, serving normal extruding operations.

Wire Zip Ties 4 EUR
Hot Melt Glue Gun 9 EUR

'' DISCLAIMER '' This guide demonstrates the mechanical construction ONLY (not electronics etc)

Building Instructions

  • Download instructions from here
  • Build the base
  • Attach a servo motor to the SMALL gear (NOT the large one) in order to get high torque
  • Get some wire zip ties and pass them through the holes of the beam frame (located at the bottom)
  • Remove the screws located on the hot melt glue gun and open it in two halves
  • Remove the trigger and re-close the hot melt glue gun
  • Place the hot melt glue gun below the beam frame with the nozzle pointing down
  • Tie them tightly around the hot melt glue gun; between it and the beam frame
  • Cut the latches
  • Enjoy!

Material Glass Transition and Melting Points Table

The following table presents some materials, like FDM thermoplastics, elaborated for 3D Printing, and their glass transition or melting points
