1. Introduction

This software was developed in the context of the AIN Competition 2013. The project name is: Low Cost Leakage Current Tester The main hardware that the device depend on it: (Android Device with USB-OTG or PC) using male-male USB Connector + Low Cost Leakage Current Tester.

2. Software Installation

Methods to install software with an android device: 1) Take a picture of the QR code bellow with a QR Reader App from your android phone. Download the software and click install the application.

2) Download the latest/adequate version in this page (https://code.google.com/p/low-cost-leakage-current-tester/source/browse/trunk/LCLCM%20%20app/android%20app/bin/LCLCM.apk) to your PC, push it to the android device (to SD-CARD or internal storage) and try to install it.

3) Android Market: Still not available.

3. Devices

The application should run on any Android Device with the following features: OS version 3.1+ (tested on android 4.2.1), with USB-OTG support. The peripherals needed are: Low Cost Leakage Tester (with Male-Male USB Cable).

3.1 Tested Android Devices

Device OS version Working notes
Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.1 yes Needs USB adapter

The figure above shows the experimental setup of the mobile leakage current device. The LCLCM peripheral box is then connected to the cell phone using a USB cable.

4. User Interface

The application should run on any Android Device with the following features: OS version above 3.1, and USB-OTG support.

4.1 Main Page

The main page is comprised of 4 buttons: 1. Type B – Select it if you test device of Type B. 2. Type BF – Select it if you test device of Type BF. 3. Type CF – Select it if you test device of Type CF. 4. Help – simple hints about how and where to connect red and black terminals.

After selecting device under test type, the measure page will appear.

4.2 Measure page

The measure page guides the user during measurement and shows the leakage current at the end. In the below figure, all leakage current kinds are with in safe range according to the IEC60601.

In the below figure, the measured patient leakage current is not within IEC60601(it should be <10µA) safe limit, so warning sign is displayed to the user is send.

Now, In the below figure, the measured enclosure leakage current is not within IEC60601 (it should be <100µA) safe limit, so warning sign is displayed to the user is send.

[

Furthermore, In the below figure, the measured leakage current is not within IEC60601 (it should be <500µA) safe limit, so warning sign is displayed to the user is send]

4.2.4 Dangerous Earth Enclosure leakage and patient Leakage current according to the IEC60601

The earth leakage current turn to red if the tasted device leak more that stander.

Finally, In the below figure, the measured leakage current is out of range of the IEC60601 (it should be <1000µA) safe limit, so warning sign is displayed to the user is send

4.2.3 Help

This page is very useful to learn the user where and how to put the red and black terminals to sense the leakage current from the device under test.
